Do You Support Non-Aggression? |
We have categorized the issues in this list by Local, State, and Federal issues as best we can, although obviously many issues will cross over from one level of government to the next. This list is not intended to be all-inclusive, but rather is representative of the issues concerning Fauquier County residents today. If a particular link doesn't seem to go anywhere, it means that page is still under development. Local IssuesCrime State IssuesAbortion National IssuesBudget & Economy IssuesFor some voters, the stand that a political party takes on the issues of the day determines whether or not those voters will support that party's candidates, issue advocacy, etc. For this reason, we are providing this issues page devoted to addressing popular political issues. However, our approach here is different from that of other political parties. Indeed, our approach here in Fauquier County is different from the approach other affiliates of the Libertarian Party have taken. Rather than having all the answers, we Libertarians in Fauquier County have decided to place our emphasis on asking the right questions as our top priority, and for us the right questions always derive from the Non-Aggression Principle. We are opening up discussion of the issues to you, the residents of Fauquier County. All we ask is that we discuss the issues in the context of the Non-Aggression Principle. To re-state the Non-Aggression Principle, it is that no one may initiate the use of force against others. We strongly believe that this principle, if properly applied, will guide us to stands on the issues that promote liberty, peace, and prosperity for all. On this web page, we invite you to become involved in the process of formulating these stands by applying the Non-Aggression Principle yourself and by coming to our meetings to involve yourself in our discussions, planning, and outreach. Click on the issue at right about which you are most interested in learning. You will be taken to a page which attempts to define the issue in light of the Non-Aggression Principle. If a particular link doesn't seem to go anywhere, it means that the page it points to is still under development. Over time, as our county committee addresses particular issues, we may include our stances on those issues in these pages. You are invited to join us at our monthly meetings as we attempt to formulate our positions. And if you feel that particular stances we have taken violate the Non-Aggression Principle, you are invited to suggest better formulations and solutions for us to consider! Our approach is to be inclusive of all people who are willing to attempt to learn how to apply the Non-Aggression Principle, even on the most difficult of issues. |
